 Nina Champion
Nina Champion is Learning Matters Project Manager at the Prisoners' Education Trust (www.prisonerseducation.org.uk). She started her career as a criminal defence solicitor before working for Rainer (now Catch 22); Prison Advice and Care Trust (PACT) and Women in Prison, managing various prevention, rehabilitation and resettlement projects.

She then worked in parliament for two MPs while completing a part-time MSc in Government, Policy and Politics.

Since September 2011 Nina has led the second phase of the Learning Matters advocacy project for the Prisoners' Education Trust. The trust enables prisoners to gain access to, and support for, distance-learning; trains prisoners to be peer mentors, and supports prisoners after release.

The Learning Matters project argues the case for better access to academic, creative and vocational learning in prison and ensures the voices of learners are heard by policy makers. To sign up for the monthly Learning Matters e-news, email [email protected].
