Tony Gardiner

 Tony Gardiner
Tony has spent 45 years struggling to understand mathematics in all its guises. Alongside his own mathematics research he developed numerous unusual opportunities and resources for teachers and for interested pupils in schools.

He spent 20 years working with teachers on curriculum development projects (SMP). He started (and for nearly 10 years ran) the national pyramid of competitions and summer schools that is now operated by UKMT. He was UK IMO team leader 1990-95, received the Paul Erdos Award 1995, was MA President 1997-8, and was elected LMS Education Secretary 2011-12. His 15 books are mostly still in print.
