Team Leader Cultural Economy, Manchester City Council

Sarah Elderkin is based in Manchester City Council’s Cultural Strategy Team and leads on the team’s contribution to the worklessness agenda. This includes support for new employment opportunities, entry routes into the sector and career pathways for Manchester residents.

Sarah was formerly Development Director for creative industries support agency Design Initiative, where she led on programmes such as the Liverpool Design Festival and industry networks. Originally trained in furniture design, she has had a background in arts and creative industries development and has worked for local authorities including Brighton and Hove, Hastings, Mid Sussex and Bolton.
